Case Study

A change to Christingles and pop up Christmas cards

A small school specialising in working with children and young people with barriers to learning wanted a new, memorable way to celebrate Christmas for the whole school.

Over four days, working in small groups from each Key Stage, we hosted a Festive Bake Off for 19 children. All students worked at their own pace and within their sensory boundaries to measure and weigh ingredients, prepare, roll and cut pastry and dough and fill and decorate mince pies and gingerbread people. Parents were delighted with their Christmas goodies that went home in recyclable and sustainably produced presentation boxes, and the children had a Christmas to remember. This year, we have been working towards an AIM qualification in Hospitality with a group of their Year 12 students. We have also run a weekly enrichment session for four Year 9 students.

“Thank you to you and the team for providing such a great service for our young people. Each of them has thoroughly enjoyed the experience of cooking in a real kitchen and they have learnt a range of skills they might have otherwise not have been exposed too. For our young people, managing a strange environment, with new people is huge. We have been immensely proud of their achievements, thanks to the skill and care of the Flavours team.”
