Terms & Conditions

By booking on any of our courses you agree to abide by our terms and conditions. We reserve the right to make amendments to the class content, subject to seasonality and availability of produce. Flavours School of Cookery  will be entitled to change the timing and/or content of any course and to substitute any teacher at any time. A minimum of 4 students are required for a class to proceed, in the event a class does not reach the minimum capacity an alternative will be offered in line with our cancellation policy.

Restrictions:

  • Adult Classes: participants must be aged 18 or over
  • Young Adult Classes: participants must be aged between 16 and 18
  • Teen Classes: participants must be aged between 12 and 16
  • Little Chefs: participants must be aged between 8 and 11
  • Children's Parties: children must be aged 6 or over
  • Classes for children aged 7: adult may stay for the class

Skill Levels:

If you are unsure as to your skill requirements for a course, please phone us so we can help ascertain your level of experience before booking. We rely on students being able to self-assess their own skill level and are happy to assist with this but cannot be held liable if you book a course much higher or lower than your actual skill level. Please call us if you are in doubt.

Health & Safety:

All participants must wear shoes with flat, non-slip soles and covered toes, preferably leather. We cannot admit you to the cookery school without proper footwear. We recommend wearing sensible clothing i.e. not your best outfit - we will not be held liable for any damage that occurs to clothing. Long hair must be tied back in the kitchen. All course participants will receive a short briefing on health and safety before commencing the course.

Children’s Classes:
Children under 12 will not be allowed to use hobs, ovens and steel blade knives, unless under strict supervision. All students under 18 are prohibited from using any piece of equipment with a rotating blade e.g. blenders. Any Student not following advice given will be asked to leave.

Behaviour:
All courses are held in a working kitchen and whilst training is given in the use of the equipment and all reasonable steps to monitor its use are taken, we cannot be held responsible in the event of injury following behaviour which ignores that advice.

In accordance with our health and safety procedures, we reserve the right to exclude any student whose behaviour ignores advice and puts themselves or others at risk, without refunding course fees, which have been paid. Any unpaid fees will still be payable.

Special dietary requirements, food allergies and illness:
It is at the chef’s discretion whether we can change the content of a course to meet the needs of specific allergies or dietary requirements. We are happy to discuss the contents of the course with you so that alternative arrangements can be made if possible.

It is your responsibility to inform us at the time of booking of any allergies, disabilities, diabetes, pregnancy, epilepsy, learning difficulties etc for you or your child.

PAYMENT & CANCELLATIONS POLICY

You can cancel your booking by ringing us during our office hours. If the office is closed, then please e-mail your request and we will call you at the earliest opportunity.

Adult Classes:

  • At the time of booking, we require a £20 deposit to be paid for the booking to be recognised. Full payment should be made a week in advance of the class. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm your place on a course until we receive payment.
  • We require a minimum 14 working days’ notice of cancellation for any of our adult classes or club bookings.
  • If the cancellation is received within the 14 days, we will apply our standard £20 cancellation fee to cover staffing costs and food wastage. Any remaining balance will be credited to your account for future bookings.
  • If the cancellation is received within 2 days of the class date, no credit or refund will be given, but we do allow the place to be re-gifted to another student that can attend.

Children's Classes:

  • At the time of booking, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit to be paid for the booking to be recognised. Full payment should be made a week in advance of the class. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm your place on a course until we receive payment.

Children’s Parties:

  • At the time of booking, we require a 50% deposit to be paid for a booking to be recognised. Full payment should be made 2 weeks in advance of the class or event. We require a minimum 14 working days notice of cancellation or change of date after which time we will apply £100 cancellation fee to cover staff costs. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm your place on a course until we receive payment.

Group Bookings:

  • At the time of booking, we require a 50% deposit to be paid for a booking to be recognised. Full payment should be made 2 weeks in advance of the class or event.
  • We require 1 months’ notice of cancellation or change of date, after which time we will apply £100 cancellation fee. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm your place on a course until we receive payment.

Vouchers:

  • Vouchers will be sold with a 1-year expiry date from date of sale and a class must be booked before that date.
  • Vouchers are valid for any classes, Cookery Club, kids or special events. They cannot be exchanged for cash. The voucher may be refunded within 28 days of purchase.
  • Vouchers bought for a specific class can be transferred to another date or used for an alternative class of the same value or as part-payment for a class of higher value. We require a minimum 14 working days’ notice of cancellation for any of our adult classes or club bookings.
  • If the cancellation is received within the 14 days, we will apply our standard £20 cancellation fee to cover staffing costs and food wastages. Any remaining balance will be credited to your account for future bookings.

Cancellations by Flavours School of Cookery:

In the unlikely event that we cancel a class, Flavours School of Cookery undertakes to provide a suitable alternative within a reasonable period. If this is not possible, we undertake to make an immediate full refund for course fees.

Property:

All property which you bring to Flavours School of Cookery is brought entirely at your own risk, and we cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage.

Personal Details:

Flavours School of Cookery collects personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number. Flavours School of Cookery also collects information, such as your post code, age, gender, preferences, interests and favourites. This information is used to operate, deliver and improve our services. This information will also be used to inform you of available products and services.

Flavours School of Cookery does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. Flavours School of Cookery may share data with trusted partners to help us send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services for Flavours School of Cookery, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

Credit/ Debit Card Details:
Flavours School of Cookery can take card payments over the phone; we do not keep a record, electronic or otherwise, of any payment details. If you have any queries regarding this, please contact us.
