Savour the traditional flavours of Portugal with authentic recipes that merge the essence and techniques of a melting pot of Mediterranean cultures. Explore the influences on the Portuguese cuisine and embrace the spices and ingredients typical of Mediterranean including olive oil, onions, bay leaves, garlic, coriander, paprika, chilli peppers and red sweet peppers.
Portuguese cooking is the epitome of comfort food. It typically utilizes all parts of animals in rich, hearty stews flavoured with paprika, white wine, garlic, and bay leaves. Portugal is also fortunate to have a long coastline, providing an abundance of incredible fish, with cod often preserved by packing it in salt. The cuisine is a blend of Mediterranean and Atlantic influences, prioritising fresh ingredients over processed items.
Our community chef for this class was born in the UK, with both parents from Portugal, particularly the northern region near Porto. Their father is from Anadia, which is famous for its Leitão (suckling pig), and their mother is from Ovar, known for its stunning natural beaches that they often visited while growing up.
What to expect:
All our classes take a hands-on approach to cooking, and you’ll be learning recipes from scratch. Our friendly chef will teach you all the tricks of the trade, starting with a fun and informative demonstration. After that, it’s over to you! You’ll be able to taste your food throughout the cooking process and season your plate to your liking. Throughout the evening chef will invite you to sample their food.
