Day Time Cookery Clubs

Our daytime cookery clubs are especially for young people who can attend during the days in mainstream school term time.

Thursday mornings Kids Clubs are for 8-11 year olds – a fun introduction to cooking techniques and vocabulary.

Thursday afternoons Teens Clubs are for 12-16 year olds – progressing to more advanced cooking techniques and vocabulary. (Scroll down for more info).

Day Time Kids Club

During term time, our Daytime Kids Club runs on Thursdays between 10am and 12, in a 6-week programme.

All ingredients and equipment are provided, along with snacks and refreshments.

This popular Thursday morning cookery club has several main goals, including:

  • Learning valuable life skills and practicing them in a safe environment.
  • Experimenting with new ingredients.
  • Identifying functional preparation and cooking techniques to encourage independence when cooking at home.
  • Working independently to create dishes from scratch.
  • Understanding healthy eating and food safety and hygiene.
  • Meeting new people and nurturing communication skills.
  • Working in a team environment.
  • Collecting a variety of recipes with transferrable skills.
  • Creating two dishes in the weekly sessions.

Our Daytime Kids club was launched in September 2024 and is already proving very popular within the Home Education community. It covers:

  • Fruits and vegetables, how to prepare and cook and incorporate with a dish and in a recipe.
  • Carbohydrates, potatoes, pasta and rice
  • Basic breads, naan, bread rolls and pitta
  • Traybakes, selection of basic cakes and biscuits.
  • Basic sauces: tomato, white sauce and velouté
  • Identifying cookery methods of frying, baking, steaming, and boiling.

It’s a natural progression from Daytime Kids to our Daytime Teens Cookery club.
