Tea Party school trip
A year 1 class wanted to do something completely different for their end of term trip.
To celebrate their achievements over the term, and to bring some practical skills to their PSHE and DT curriculum, Flavours hosted an old-fashioned tea party for the morning. The class of 5-6 year olds and their teacher prepared a menu of four traditional tea party staples.
All recipes were modified to be plant-based to be inclusive for the pupil who was lactose-intolerant, and all equipment was suitable for the age group. We used plastic knives, steps for access to the hobs and lowered worktops for the shorter children. Traditional Tea party foods, such as scones (with cream and jam), Bakewell tarts, Rocky Road and mini pizzas were served on a cake stand along with jugs of orange squash.
A whole class of smiling, excited and slightly sticky children returned to school with a raft of stories for their parents and carers. Feedback from children, parents and teachers was amazing – and the children were enthused enough to write individual thank-you letters to us!
Year 1 had an amazing morning at Flavours School of Cookery yesterday.
